TXP The Pink Life is a simple template licensed under GPL conditions for Textpattern CMS, designed by Fran Garcia, an analyst and web programmer located in Elche, Spain. Since I was in a conference about Textpattern with one of the developpers, Pedro Palazón, I changed my blog from Wordpress into Textpattern and since this moment, I know that I took a good decision. I've also developped two plugin for textpattern: youtube_videos, a plugin to embed videos from youtube into your web and lastfm_tagcloud, a plugin to show a cloud of tags from Last.fm according to a user.
You can see a demo of this template at http://www.frangarcia.net/textplates.
First of all, I'd recommend you a backup of your textpattern installation. I've well tested the template, but what would happen if something goes wrong?. I can suggest some ways to make a backup of your textpattern installation:
The installation shouldn't take much time. It is just a matter of how fast you can do copy and paste. First of all, you must extract the zip file into a located folder. If you are a bit familiar with Textpattern already, just follow the steps below. If not, I recommend reading at least a couple of these wonderful introductory articles before proceeding with the installation.
Every text file in the "pages" directory of the template package corresponds to a template page with the same name. Go to presentation -> pages in your Textpattern admin interface, then create (or replace) all appropriate pages, using the contents of that directory.
Go to presentation -> styles, then replace the default stylesheet with the contents of "default.txt" file in "styles" directory.
Every text file in the "forms" directory and its subdirectories of the template package corresponds to a form with the same name. As you can see in the forms directory, there are five directory, one for each type of form (article, comment, file, link and misc). If you need to create a form, you must consider the type of the form. So go to presentation -> forms, then create (or replace) all appropriate forms. Select the correct type of each form, according to the name of its directory.
Go to presentation -> sections, create or replace the next sections: "about", "archive", "article" and "contact". Set the following settings:
Don't forget to save every section you adjust.
Login to you account using an ftp client and upload all files that reside in "images" directory of the template package to "images" directory in your textpattern installation.
If you don't have an FTP access to the website, you'll have to upload every image through the textpattern admin interface.Don't forget also to rename every reference to image in the stylesheet according to filenames you've got after uploading images through the admin interface. There is also a reference to an image in the form "default", but probably you won't have to change it, because this image comes with the regular installation of textpattern.
Go to admin -> plugins, then install plugins by copying the content of each file in "plugins" directory into an appropriate field and clicking "install". Don't forget also to activate the plugins.
Go to content -> write and write a good description of you. Then, is very important saving this article in the about section. The other content of the web, must be saved in the article section.
You've done it! Congratulations! Now your website should work fine, but be sure to check everything at this point. The final step would be to customize it a bit...
Go to presentation -> forms -> listright. It has a very simple structure, so you shouldn't have problems customizing it after reading the code. Every group of links has a >h3< tag to introduce the links as an unordered list. You must just add the links categories you want and then change this form.
Go to presentation -> forms -> optionsweb, then add or remove any menu items you want.
