MX4 Documentation
Welcome and thank you for downloading the MX4 Theme for Textpattern. It was originally designed by Michael of MX4.
Please send any questions through my contact form.
The format of the installation will be very similar to Stuart's of The Bomb Site since those seemed to be particularly easy to follow.
Let's Begin
I am keeping this installation very simple, because I know that there many people who would just drop it if there were thousands of forms and templates to copy. However, if there is a feature you would like to see, feel free to send me using the contact form and I will see what I can do.
Page Templates
The MX4 theme requires only two page templates, one for the home page (with a sidebar) and a single-column template for individual articles.
Therefore, once you have logged into your Admin area, go to "presentation/pages" and copy the contents of the "default.txt" file in the folder: "pages". Then, copy the default page template as "article" using the form at the bottom of the template display and then select the new page template and copy the contents of the "article.txt" file into it. Again, ensure that you are copying the contents of "article.txt" into the "article" template and not the "default".
(If you choose to also create and use the "links" template, you will have to create a section and set the "uses page" value to "links" so that the correct template is used.)
CSS
Now go to the "presentation/style" and copy the contents of the CSS.txt file into the default CSS and press save.
Forms
There are four text files in the "forms" folder. The MX4 theme does not require the creation of new forms, therefore the contents of each text file should be copied to the corresponding form in the admin panel.
Sections
Only two sections are required, however more can be added as necessary. The required sections are "article" and "about" which should already be created. After going to the "Presentation/Section" area, change both the "article" and "about" sections to "article" under "uses page". Make sure that you save each change individually using the save button under each section's description. This ensures that the articles use the single-column template.
Images
Simply upload the files in the "images" directory into the images directory on your server.
Plugins
No plugins are required for this theme; however, the zem_contact plugin is included if you would like to add a contact form.
Go to "admin/plugins", you can either copy the contents of the plugin text files into the top text box, or you can browse to the location of the MX4 plugin folder you downloaded and install each plugin that way. In both cases, once the plugin is selected, a page with a lot of code will show up with and "Install" button. Selcet this button and you will return to the plugin page. Then, click on the word "No" to activate the plugin.
Done
That's it, you're done. I tried to simplify these directions as much as possible, but this means that I may have left something out. If so, contact me on the contact form I mentioned above. Also, thanks to Michael for letting me port his design.
